Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is income provided by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to people with a significant work history who find themselves unable to work because of a serious workplace injury or a traumatic personal injury.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is income provided by the Social Security Administration to people who are unable to support themselves due to a permanent disability (or long-term temporary disability) and who have very limited income and assets.
